Holy Family Primary and Nursery School, Derry, secured another accolade to add to their long list of successes this week when they were awarded the highly prestigious Marjorie Boxall Nurture Quality Mark award for the delivery of outstanding nurture provision.
The highly popular Derry school which has been operating a nurture centre since 2003, secured the award following a robust assessment of provision by NGN trainer, Helen Stollery. The award was presented by NGN representative, Adam O’ Riley, to nurture teacher, Kathy Stephenson in front of a packed audience of pupils, parents, governors and invited guests.
Former Chair of the Education Committee at the NI Assembly, Mervyn Storey, MLA, spoke at the presentation and acknowledged both the fantastic work of the school in securing this award and also the importance of nurture education in transforming pupils lives within Northern Ireland.
School principal, Garry Matthewson acknowledged the work of the entire school community in securing this significant award while paying particular tribute to the Board of Governors, Mrs Siobhan Mc Swiggan, Mrs Delma Boggs, Ms Ann Gallagher and Mrs Kathy Stephenson for all their work in the ensuring the on-going development of nurture education at Holy Family.
