Formula 1 treat for pupils at St Brigid's Primary School, Drumilly

The children of St. Brigid’s primary school in Drumilly had a rare treat last week when none other than Lewis Hamilton’s lawyer dropped in for a visit.

Carrie Donaghy, who is a sister of one of the pupils of the school, is currently working in London for Mercedes Motorsport, F1 division, but took time out of her busy schedule to come and talk to the children about her work as a Formula 1 lawyer.  She delivered a fascinating insight into Formula One life, explaining how science, technology, engineering and maths all combine to deliver a racing machine capable of speeds in excess of 200mph. Not only did Carrie spend well over an hour talking to her captive audience but she also brought along some very special souvenir gifts for every child in the class. She also had with her a complete Formula 1 racing suit, including the boots and gloves, that was actually worn by Lewis Hamilton during this year’s F1 World Championship.  The class also received an extra treat through the post this week. Having gone back to work in London, Carrie bumped into none other than Lewis himself and when she told him all about the children of St. Brigid’s he personally signed a copy of the above picture with the words, “Work Hard, God Bless. Lewis, 2016 #44” Suffice to say, all of St. Brigid’s will be cheering him on next year in his bid to regain the Championship.
