Once again Holy Cross Girls’ Primary School, Belfast is ending the school year on a high! They have just been informed that they are one of a small number of schools which has been awarded the School of Sanctuary Award.
The School of Sanctuary Award is given to a school that is committed to being a safe and welcoming place for all. A place where children feel cared for and valued and empowered to be the best that they can be regardless of culture, creed or ability.
Miss McCann and Ms Shannon steered the whole school community through the process. Three Judges visited the school on Monday 18th June to look at all the work that was being done and had the opportunity to speak to the children to find out their views. They were overwhelmed and delighted to see such happy, confident pupils.
The award recognises all the work that the school does within the community. Work carried out with Bradley Manor, FISCA, Concorde, Flax Centre, Men’s Shed, WISP and many more. The school would like to thank all the organisations for their involvement.
This award means a lot to the school because everyone played a part in it. All the school community has been recognised for their involvement in making Holy Cross Girls’ deserving of such a prestigious award.
