The School Development Plan highlighted ICT as a key area of focus this year. The Senior Leadership Team were happy to agree to setting up a new ICT suite to facilitate better teaching and learning for the children. The ICT team led by Mr. McGuigan conducted an audit of ICT resources and hardware. It was evident that a significant boost to ICT resources was necessary. The aim was to facilitate the needs of the children to ensure an outstanding standard of teaching and learning in the area of ICT. The room and ICT equipment was funded by the school budget.
This funding has seen the school invest substantially in a new and refurbished room with new laptop workstations and iPads. This ensures that each child is able to access the learning independently without relying on sharing with their peers. The new ICT suite has inspired children to continue their great work and has helped teachers to ensure that ICT is successfully integrated across the whole school curriculum. The ICT suite has a comfortable and safe environment where the children can complete tasks successfully. Children are supervised and e-safety is of utmost importance whenever the ICT suite is being used. The furnishing and displays ensure that the room is colourful and vibrant where children are enthusiastic to complete their work.
We are confident that this investment will impact significantly on the teaching and learning programme in the school for years to come. One P6 child said, “I look forward going to the room because I can complete fun ICT work,” and a P5 child exclaimed that “I love the room because the chairs and walls are very colourful.”
